Sandra Aguirre, visitaron la ciudad de Newark, donde fueron recibidos con honores y reconocimientos por parte de las autoridades municipales.
El evento marcó un año del hermanamiento entre las ciudades de Ciudad de Newark (EE. UU.) y Cantón Chunchi (Ecuador), un acuerdo que simboliza la unión de culturas, el fortalecimiento de lazos comunitarios y el orgullo de la provincia de Provincia de Chimborazo.
El cantón Chunchi es una entidad administrativa de la provincia de Chimborazo, en Ecuador, con una población de alrededor de 10 635 habitantes según el censo de 2022. A lo largo de décadas, una importante comunidad de personas originarias de Chunchi ha residido en Newark, Nueva Jersey, generando un vínculo profundo entre su tierra de origen y su vida en el extranjero.
Durante la ceremonia, se destacó el aporte de la empresa ecuatoriana en Newark que ha trabajado incansablemente en favor del bienestar social, creando puentes de apoyo entre los migrantes y sus raíces. “¡Viva la provincia de Chimborazo!”, expresó con emoción Jaime Pardo, quien compartió el mensaje en sus redes sociales para celebrar este importante acontecimiento.

Celebrating the Sister Cities: Newark and Chunchi Honor Ecuadorian Heritage
New Jersey — In a heartfelt celebration of unity, Frantz Joseph, Mayor of Chunchi, Ecuador, along with distinguished Ecuadorian representatives Rodrigo Machado, Dr. Ernesto Ramírez, Jaime Pardo, and Lic. Sandra Aguirre, visited the city of Newark, where they were warmly received and honored by the municipal authorities.
The ceremony marked the first anniversary of the Sister Cities partnership between the City of Newark and Chunchi, a symbol of friendship, cultural pride, and cooperation between the people of Ecuador and the United States.
Chunchi is a canton in Ecuador’s Chimborazo Province, with a population of approximately 10,635 people as of the 2022 census. During decades past, a significant community of Chunchi natives has been residing in Newark, New Jersey, creating a powerful bond between their homeland and life abroad.
The event also recognized the outstanding Ecuadorian business and social initiatives in Newark, which have played a vital role in community development and in supporting Ecuadorian migrants abroad. Entrepreneur and community leader Jaime Pardo shared an inspiring message on social media, proudly declaring: “Viva la provincia de Chimborazo!”
