ICE ARRESTA A UN OFICIAL DE POLICÍA EN UN SUBURBIO DE CHICAGO Y LO ACUSA DE ESTAR EN EE. UU. ILEGALMENTE
Chicago, Illinois. — Un agente de policía del suburbio de Hanover Park, al noroeste de Chicago, fue arrestado por oficiales del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) tras descubrirse que se encontraba en el país de manera ilegal.
El oficial, identificado como Radule Bojovic, originario de Montenegro, había ingresado a Estados Unidos con una visa de turista en 2014, la cual expiró en marzo de 2015. A pesar de no contar con un estatus migratorio legal, logró graduarse de la Academia de Policía Suburbana y recientemente comenzó su entrenamiento en campo dentro del departamento local.
De acuerdo con un comunicado de ICE, Bojovic fue detenido durante una operación federal denominada “Operation Midway Blitz”, enfocada en identificar a inmigrantes sin estatus legal que trabajen en instituciones públicas o porten armas de fuego, lo cual constituye una violación federal.
El caso ha generado controversia en Illinois, un estado que mantiene políticas de “ciudad santuario”, limitando la cooperación entre las agencias locales y federales en asuntos migratorios.
Las autoridades locales de Hanover Park informaron que están colaborando con el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) mientras se evalúa el estatus del agente y su futuro en la fuerza policial.

Chicago, Illinois — A police officer from the suburb of Hanover Park, northwest of Chicago, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers after it was discovered that he was allegedly living in the country illegally.
The officer, identified as Radule Bojovic, originally from Montenegro, reportedly entered the United States on a tourist visa in 2014, which expired in March 2015. Despite lacking legal immigration status, he managed to graduate from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy and had recently begun his field training with the local police department.
According to an ICE statement, Bojovic was taken into custody during a federal operation called “Operation Midway Blitz,” which focuses on identifying undocumented immigrants working in public institutions or carrying firearms — actions that violate federal law.
The case has sparked controversy in Illinois, a state known for its “sanctuary city” policies that limit cooperation between local and federal agencies on immigration matters.
Local authorities in Hanover Park said they are cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as the officer’s legal status and future within the police department are reviewed.
